Role Purpose:

The Warehouse and Materials Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all warehouse activities, including the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of inbound and outbound shipments of materials, raw product, supplies, and finished goods. This position acts as both a leader and a coordinator, facilitating smooth operations, maintaining inventory accuracy, and fostering a safe, productive workplace. The supervisor provides guidance and development to warehouse staff, enforces company policies, and collaborates with multiple internal departments to optimize material flow and support manufacturing goals. This position requires material handling equipment certification on stand-up and sit-down forklifts, reach trucks, skyjack lifts, and powered pallet jacks as well as being responsible for hiring and training forklift operators for the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Direct daily warehouse operations, ensuring all activities are performed in compliance with company guidelines and industry regulations.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to warehouse associates, including training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and conflict resolution.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment that values safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the receipt, inspection, and documentation of incoming materials and components.
  • Ensure outgoing shipments are accurately packed, labeled, loaded, secured, and documented according to company and downstream customer requirements.
  • Work with transportation partners as needed to schedule pick-ups and deliveries, resolving any issues related to shipment delays, errors, or damages.
  • Manage returns, rejects, and non-conforming material in accordance with established procedures as needed.
  • Monitor inventory movement, including receiving, storage, and shipping, to ensure timely fulfillment of manufacturing needs and scheduled production orders.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing and production departments to optimize supply stock levels and minimize shortages or overstock situations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse layout, workflow, and storage systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and 5S methodologies within the warehouse.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive projects focused on reducing waste, optimizing material handling, and improving safety.
  • Uphold and enforce safety protocols, ensuring all associates adhere to PPE and GMP requirements and safe operating procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections of warehouse equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, conveyors) and arrange for maintenance or repairs as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory standards applicable to warehousing in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lead department safety meetings and participate actively in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Prepare operational reports, including metrics on inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, productivity, and enforce and audit mandated warehouse lead end of shift checklists.
  • Maintain detailed records of shipments, receipts, inventory transactions, and safety incidents.
  • Serve as a liaison between the warehouse and manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and transportation departments.
  • Coordinate with production planners and operations to ensure timely delivery of materials to the manufacturing lines as required.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, management, and external partners to resolve issues and facilitate operations.
  • Leadership and team building with ability to motivate, coach, and develop staff in fast-paced operational settings.
  • Demonstrated experience with WMS, ERP systems, and manual inventory processes.
  • Manages Refresher training participation in regular MHE retraining or recertification, especially after incidents, near misses, or changes in equipment or work environment.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management to support overall warehouse and production operations.
  • Accountable for materials management and inventory control related to system vs. physical


Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

Required:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of supervisory experience in warehousing, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with warehouse technologies, scanners, RF devices, and inventory software.
  • Experience implementing process improvements and leading teams in dynamic environments.
  • Forklift operator (stand-up, reach and sit-down) and trainer certification

Preferred:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or related field preferred.
  • OSHA safety certification a plus

Scope:
  • The role of Warehouse Supervisor is both demanding and rewarding, requiring a blend of technical expertise, leadership ability, and a commitment to operational excellence. By managing people, processes, and inventory with precision and care, the Warehouse Supervisor ensures the success of the warehouse and the satisfaction of up and downstream customers including the production department.

Conditions of Role:
  • Travel Requirements: Generally not required.
  • Physical Conditions:
    • Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, bend, twist and stoop in required duties.
    • Ability to use proper lifting methods on items up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to operate a forklift and other equipment during a shift.
    • Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety shoes, high-visibility vests, eye/hearing protection along with head and facial hair coverings.
    • Speaking - ordinary speech
    • Near acuity (clarity of vision at 20 inches or less)
    • Hearing - ordinary conversation
  • Work Environment:
    • May be exposed to varying temperatures, dust, and noise typical of a manufacturing warehouse environment.
    • Exposure to flourescent lighting.
    • Navigate and manuever the forklift or other equipment safely through tight spaces, around obstacles, and alongside other vehicles or pedestrians.
    • Work in congested areas with varied load types, focus on safety, housekeeping protocols, awareness of facility layout, stock arrangement and organization techniques.
