This role will be responsible for analyzing market data, consumer trends, and competitive activity to provide critical insights to senior leadership. The Category Insights Director will play a key role in developing thought leadership and ensuring our organization stays ahead of key industry shifts.

This role will be responsible for analyzing market data, consumer trends, and competitive activity to provide critical insights to senior leadership. The Category Insights Director will play a key role in developing thought leadership and ensuring our organization stays ahead of key industry shifts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Category Insights & Strategy: Lead the analysis of market and category trends, providing actionable insights that drive business and strategic decisions.
- Executive & Investor Communication: Deliver data-driven category insights to C-Suite executives, supporting investor communications with compelling narratives on industry trends and company performance.
- Consumer & Market Analysis: Leverage syndicated and proprietary research (Nielsen, IRI, SPINS, etc.) to track category performance, shopper behaviors, and competitive positioning. Own relationships and contract negotiations with third party data providers.
- Strategic Recommendations: Develop category growth strategies by identifying whitespace opportunities and key market shifts.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Marketing, Sales, Finance, and Product Development teams to align category insights with business strategies.
- Competitive Intelligence: Monitor industry developments and competitor activity to provide insights that inform business planning.
- Data Storytelling: Translate complex data sets into clear, compelling, and actionable insights for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Innovation Insights: Support product innovation by identifying emerging trends, consumer needs, and white space opportunities within the category.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Data Analytics, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in category insights, market research, or business intelligence within the CPG industry.
Competencies and Proficiency Requirements:
- Deep expertise in using syndicated data sources (Nielsen, IRI, SPINS, etc.) and advanced analytics tools to gleen insights and craft compelling category stories.
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior executives and investors.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence decision-making.
- Highly proficient in data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) and Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint.
