Primary Responsibilities
The Manager of Business Intelligence leads a team of data analysts and reporting specialists to deliver actionable insights that drive business performance and strategic decision-making. This role is responsible for developing and executing the organization's data analytics, reporting, and dashboarding strategy-ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and aligned with business goals. This individual will serve as both a people leader and strategic partner, fostering a culture of data-driven thinking while overseeing the successful delivery of analytic projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. Essential Functions
DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Business Intelligence team responsible for analytics, dashboarding, and reporting.
- Define and execute the BI strategy in alignment with organizational priorities and business objectives.
- Partners with department heads and senior leadership to identify opportunities where data insights can drive operational and strategic improvements.
- Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of dashboards, KPIs, and reports that deliver meaningful and actionable insights.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across all business reporting tools and platforms.
- Translate complex data sets into clear narratives and visualizations that support executive and operational decision-making.
- Establish and maintain standards for reporting, visualization design, and data storytelling.
- Manage the intake, prioritization, and delivery of BI projects, balancing strategic initiatives with ongoing operational reporting needs.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering, Systems, and cross-functional teams to ensure data pipelines and integrations support analytics goals.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and outcomes effectively to stakeholders and leadership.
- Continuously evaluate tools, technologies, and processes to improve efficiency and data capability maturity.
- Develop and monitor performance metrics for the BI team and organizational reporting usage.
- Drive continuous improvement in BI processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance scalability and value delivery.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Proficiency in modern BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or similar).
- Strong SQL skills and familiarity with relational databases and data modeling concepts.
- Working knowledge of data warehouse environments, ETL processes, and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Snowflake).
- Understanding of data governance, master data management, and data quality best practices.
- Familiarity with Python, R, or other analytical scripting languages is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills at all levels of the organization both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage and provide leadership to a team to ensure business goals are met.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated success managing analytics projects from concept to delivery, including stakeholder engagement and change management.
Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 4+ years of progressive experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or related fields.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a people leadership or team management role, with proven ability to coach, mentor, and develop analytical talent.
- Experience working cross-functionally with business, technical, and executive teams to translate business needs into analytical solutions.
