Job Description

Overview/Purpose:

The Controls Technician is responsible for the plant PLC platforms, calibration of sensors/electronic devices, and other types of automation to ensure the facility can run at full functionality.

Primary Duties:
  • Calibrating and repairing electronic instruments on process equipment
  • Electrical troubleshooting of Industrial Equipment (PLCs, Drives, Servos, 480V Motors, 24VDC Control Circuit, Labelers, Robotic Palletizers, Closed Loop Controls, etc.)
  • Create, adjust and modify PLC programs on process equipment
  • Testing instrumentation and control systems for proper functionality of process equipment
  • Updating blueprints and machine drawings
  • Repair/replace/upgrade PLC's, Drives, Servo's, robots, etc.
  • Perform programming upgrades on robotic palletizers
  • Act as a Controls Subject Matter Expert on new project installations (PLC platform, instrumentation recommendations, wiring schematics, etc.)
  • Completion of PMs (Preventive Maintenance)
  • Act as a relief supervisor for the PLC Controls Supervisor when needed
  • Tasks are to be completed while maintaining the highest safety, food safety and quality, cost and GMP standards in a high-speed manufacturing environment.


Qualifications

Requirements:
  • Minimum four years' experience in a Maintenance Electrical Technician role in a manufacturing environment or related capacity
  • High School Diploma/GED with substantial experience in manufacturing maintenance and reliability required.
  • Associates' Degree in an engineering, technology or scientific related discipline is preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Controls or Mecatronics Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience with CMMS Software required - (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
  • Project Management experience is desired.
  • Experience in a GMP regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Work cooperatively in cross-functional teams to solve persistent downtime issues
  • Effective communication (both written and verbally) and interpersonal skills
  • Possess advanced computer literacy
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees and build effective working relationships
  • Understanding of basic principles of the SQF program and other food safety policies/procedures

Work Environment:
  • Primarily, manufacturing environment
  • Some exposure to fluorescent lights
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards, especially forklifts
  • Standing and walking on concrete floors
  • Frequently exposed to a variety of dust particles
  • Forklift Traffic
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50lbs

Potential Hazards:
  • Bumping into & slipping
  • Being hit by falling objects
  • Bending, twisting, lifting
  • CTS candidate.
  • Slips, Twists and Falls

Hazards controls:
  • Training on housekeeping issues and awareness of location.
  • Training in proper methods of lifting and load handling

Schedule:
  • Hours: 8-hour shifts (6:00 AM to 2:30 PM)
  • Monday-Friday
  • Work Overtime as needed to meet project demands

  • New starting wage is $44.00 per hour (commensurate with experience and location). *Note that rate could change based on shift schedule.
