The Director, Sales oversees an assigned sales team in the implementation and execution of sales, distribution, marketing strategies, and tactics against corporate goals and objectives for key customers. The incumbent strives to enhance corporate success in multiple categories to achieve business results through strategy development, influence, executive presence, and penetration with the retailer's merchandising, management, and senior management team(s).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Account Strategy & Management:
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and profitability targets for key accounts.
- Manage relationships with senior stakeholders at assigned key account(s)
- Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities.
- Revenue Growth:
- Drive sales growth by identifying new business opportunities and expanding distribution.
- Develop and negotiate contracts, pricing strategies, and promotional plans.
- Forecast and monitor sales performance, ensuring targets are met or exceeded.
- Ownership of trade budget and effectiveness of spend.
- Customer Engagement:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Lead joint business planning sessions, aligning on objectives, strategies, and execution plans.
- Collaborate with customers to develop tailored solutions that address their needs.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of account managers or sales professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
- Provide coaching and development to build a best-in-class sales team.
- Monitor team performance and provide actionable feedback.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with marketing, operations, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure seamless execution of sales strategies.
- Advocate for customer needs internally to drive innovation and service excellence.
- Performance Analysis:
- Utilize data analytics to evaluate sales performance, customer trends, and ROI on sales initiatives.
- Prepare and present regular sales reports and forecasts to senior leadership.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years experience in a Sales capacity within a Consumer-Packaged Goods Company, Distributor or Broker Network environment or related role
- Knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, and information affecting the retailer organization.
- Leverages thought leadership and insights to develop, focus and deliver activation priorities with the customer/shopper.
- Ability to develop and implement joint business plans that create mutual value and delivers mutual growth.
- Expert knowledge of internal computer sales systems utilized by assigned retailer.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret account-specific data and translate insights into
- actionable business strategies and presentations.
- Working knowledge and understanding of regional retailer strategy, internal structure, and Nielsen/IRI syndicated data.
- Sales Forecasting trade planning management experience required
- Knowledge of the Consumer Product Goods Industry.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrates strong cross-functional leadership by collaborating effectively at all levels of the organization and leading teams across various functions to drive results
- Ability to lead change and execute on strategic decisions.
- Computer skills including MS Office programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbal/writing) effectively.
