Job Description

Overview :

The Machine Operator handles any type of processing machinery on the floor, takes care of all machine-specific functions such as configuring the equipment, loading, and operating the machines, and optimizing the machine capability. The Machine Operator needs to ensure that the machine works at its full capacity, oversee its maintenance, and perform timely quality checks. The Machine Operator reports to the production supervisor and assures production and quality goals are met safely, accurately, and consistently following GMP protocols. This includes completing necessary documentation and reports in a thorough, accurate and timely manner. Machine Operators are required to work overnight, and weekends as needed.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Carry out production, inspection, packaging, and machine operation duties.
  • Set up machinery and ensure all materials are readily available
  • Effectively monitor production equipment
  • Assist the shop technicians and materials clerk as necessary
  • Perform appropriate duties as assigned by management
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace
  • Follow established safety rules and regulations
  • Ensures safety in the workplace by adhering to and making sure to follow the companies' safety policies and procedures, addresses concerns immediately.
  • Adheres to GMPs, policies and procedures and ensures team follows them too.
  • Ensures key quality parameters and all/every Critical Control Point verification and documentation in his/her area of work.
  • Actively looks for and identifies opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
  • Other duties as required or assigned


Qualifications

Job Requirements:
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Must be a team player, willing to work in a growing, demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Need to be creative, adaptable, and able to accurately handle out-of-the-ordinary issues with a sense of urgency.
  • Must be a self-starter and willing to work flexible hours
  • 100% results driven with focus on cost optimization
  • Willingness to work independently, with minimal supervision and take ownership of job

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years' experience as machine operator
  • Strong knowledge of machines in a manufacturing setting
  • Committed to quality, safety, and communication
  • Familiarity with codes, regulations, SQF, HAACP, OHSAS and other relevant standards.
  • Solid understanding of technical aspects of food manufacturing, food safety, etc.
  • Team-oriented and self-directed
  • Ability to keep track of and report on activity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) desirable
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing required

Compensation and Benefits:
  • $18.50 per hour (commensurate with experience and location). *Note that rate could change based on shift schedule.
