Role Purpose:
Associate, R&D & Process Engineer, will help drive new product development and superior food design for key Hain Celestial brands. The role will provide technical guidance in the ideation, feasibility, scale up, and commercialization of new products in collaboration with co-manufacturing and internal cross functional partners. An individual contributor, the role will ensure product integrity during the commercialization process. Reporting to the Sr. Manger, Process Engineering, the role will also assist on strategic internal manufacturing projects as needed. The role will primarily support growth initiatives within the Snacks and Baby/Kids business units but may assist other business units as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
70% - External Engineering Projects
- Drive innovation through external manufacturing partners by developing relationships, clarifying portfolio offerings, and understanding current and future state external manufacturing capabilities.
- Serves as R&D primary point of contact for process engineering workstreams for external innovation projects.
- Partners with Co-Man Operations/Marketing/Innovation teams to evaluate new innovation capabilities.
- Creates material/energy balances as necessary around external manufacturing lines.
- Designs and executes trials and production runs, as required, to ensure center lining of process parameters and optimization of product quality/operational throughputs.
- Collaborates with Quality & Product Safety and Regulatory to ensure food safety and regulatory compliance.
- Maintains ongoing research and knowledge of manufacturing technologies inclusive of potential opportunities for new products.
- Partners with co-manufacturers and to troubleshoot or optimize production processes, efficiencies, and deviations.
30% - Internal Engineering Projects
- Provide trial support for internal commercialization/engineering projects
- Help design experiments/analyze data to optimize production processes
- Assist in troubleshooting internal manufacturing issues
- May assist with other projects as needed.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, food process engineering, mechanical engineering, or other related engineering field.
- 0-3 years of relevant experience in an industrial, lab, or co-op/internship setting (CPG, food & beverage, or related industry preferred).
- Strong data anlysis skills with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions
Preferred:
- Knowledge and/or experience in frying, seasoning, and extrusion
- Knowledge of various food based quality control analytical techniques
Competencies and Proficiency Requirements:
- Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Passion for innovation and curiosity about emerging technologies and trends in the CPG sector.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with statistical data analysis tools is a plus.
- Process Engineering Fundamentals: Understanding of unit operations, scale-up, and process optimization.
- Technology Evaluation: Ability to assess feasibility, maturity, and applicability of new or external technologies.
- Experimental Design: Knowledge of designing experiments and trials to evaluate process or formulation performance.
- Technical Documentation: Ability to create clear reports, technical summaries, and flow diagrams.

Conditions of Role:
- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel both domestically and internationally (40%)
- Physical Conditions: Primarily remote based, travel to manufacturing locations, with occasional office presence. Ability to be on feet for long periods of time when at manufacturing locations.
