    Overview

    The Corporate Human Resources department has an immediate opportunity for a Leave & Accommodations Specialist to join the talented and high performing Human Resources Compliance team. This position will be located in Naperville, Illinois, and will report directly to the Senior Human Resources Compliance Manager. Under general supervision, the primary responsibility for the Leave & Accommodations Specialist will be to handle all administrative requests in support of the leaves of absence and accommodations program.

    We are seeking a driven, creative HR professional with a passion for HR Compliance, an extraordinary attention to detail, superb organizational skills, a deep understanding of the LOA Process and applicable state leave laws, and broad/generalist Human Resources knowledge. Accountabilities are accomplished through working collaboratively with various Human Resources teams to foster an environment consistent with KeHE's Culture, Mission and Values.

    Primary Responsibilities

    DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Collaborate with our third-party leave administrator and Human Resources Business Partners to effectively manage the Company-wide Leaves of Absence program (e.g. FMLA, non-FMLA, Military, and Personal) as well as the Company's Paid Parental benefit.
    • Serve as a Company-wide leaves of absence and accommodations (ADA/ADAAA and Religious) subject matter expert who provides consultation and coaching regarding accommodation matters to Human Resources Business Partners.
    • Present accurate and timely consultation to employees prior to their leave of absence regarding leave policies, appropriate leave protections, use of paid time off, and other employer benefits.Present employees with initial documentation regarding their leave of absence, which includes information on the Leaves of Absence process, and next steps.
    • Partner with Human Resources Shared Services and Payroll Teams to ensure timely processing of the leave in the Human Capital Management system and payment during leave as applicable.Partner in conjunction with Corporate Payroll, Benefits, and Workers' Compensation teams to coordinate and communicate benefits to leadership and employees.
    • Investigate and partner with our third-party leave administrator and Human Resources Business Partner on escalated issues as appropriate.
    • Coordinate the employee's return to work among all parties on a need-to-know basis.
    • Provide routine and ad-hoc reports and analysis to leadership and Human Resources Business Partners on leaves of absence activities, trends, and other related issues.
    • Maintain current knowledge of and ensures compliance with all federal, state and local laws applicable to leaves of absence, including their interaction with ADA/ADAAA.
    • Maintain complete and accurate records of leave requests.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality in verbal and written communications.
    • Assist with and complete special projects on an as needed basis.Perform other duties as assigned.

    Essential Functions

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
    • Knowledge of leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by FMLA, ADA/ADAAA, and nationwide statutory leaves laws required.
    • Proficiency in a Human Capital Management system is a must; Experience with UKG Pro and/or Ceridian is a plus.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Systems, specifically Excel (e.g. pivot tables and vlookups, etc.) a must.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to work successfully under pressure and handle multiple highly sensitive issues and competing priorities.
    • Ability to build strong relationships and influence others while working in a cross functional environment.
    • Contribute and support to the overall goals of the Human Resources Compliance team.
    • Capability of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints.
    • Able to work effectively with peers, region and corporate leadership, and the Corporate/Commercial Sales/Operations teams in a productive, collaborative environment coupled with the ability to be decisive is needed.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.

    Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a related field is preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
    • Minimum 1-year experience in leave management required.
    • Minimum 2-4 years Human Resources generalist experience is preferred.
