    Primary Responsibilities

    The Accounting Manager will lead a team of accountants and oversee the department's daily operations such as financial reporting, month-end processes, and forecasting. This role will work closely with internal partners to ensure timely and accurate reporting of business performance. The ideal candidate will have the ability to analyze and interpret large operational data sets and will be able to understand complex business processes. This role will have 4 direct reports.

    This role is onsite 3 days/week in Naperville, IL.

    Essential Functions

    DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Leads and enables a team of accountants to foster an environment of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the department.
    • Ensures timely and accurate reporting of financial information to management and internal stakeholders.
    • Collaborates with department leaders to research and understand variance drivers.
    • Prepares detailed data driven forecasts.
    • Traces, troubleshoots, and strives to improve system driven accounting processes.
    • Assists with and reviews month-end close entries and balance sheet account reconciliations.
    • Monitors, reviews, and documents processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
    • Assists the department with audits, tax compliance and other projects.


    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to analyze, report, and communicate complex accounting processes.
    • Understanding of GAAP and ability to apply guidelines to real world scenarios.
    • Ability to interpret financial statements.
    • Curiosity and drive to understand and dig into complex business processes; ability to design new processes and analysis to answer questions about business performance
    • Ability to understand information systems in order to trace and reconcile information across multiple reporting platforms.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) with a strong focus on Excel.
    • Ability and willingness to work flexible and occasionally extended hours as needed.
    • Ability to maintain high standards of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and assurance of compliance with company and other applicable policies and procedures.

    Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
    • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in public accounting and/or tax administration required.
    • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in managing required.
    • Experience with financial reporting and tax filing preferred.
    • Workday or PowerBI experience a plus.
