    Primary Responsibilities

    The UX/UI Designer partners with our engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to practice high-level research strategy across multiple product teams while guiding the execution to align with KeHE's vision. With help from the design team, you will support and champion the process for developing a cohesive experience across applications by maintaining a living style guide and pattern library. As an integral part of the product development team, a UI/UX Designer works with product teams to ensure teams are delivering a customer-focused experience that drives business outcome by advocating UX methodologies and techniques.

    Embedded within the product and engineering teams, the UX/UI Designer facilitates design thinking workshops, creates and carries out research plans, and designs interactive and visual design solutions including wireframes, UI design comps, specifications, and interactive prototypes. This critical team member enables the delivery of high-quality enterprise and customer facing products, rapidly and iteratively.

    Essential Functions
    • Design elegant, thoughtful solutions for complex workflows through the use of type, hierarchy, interactions, and design patterns.
    • Assure design quality by collaborating closely with design team, developers, product owners, and business analysts to write clear and detailed specs.
    • Effectively communicate design decisions to product and leadership teams.
    • Keep up with evolving design trends, technologies, and best practices.
    • Contribute visual styles to KeHE's design system; maintain and update our pattern library, living style guide and sketch component library.
    • Conduct user and competitive research.
    • Facilitate research sessions to identify business, user, and technical requirements.
    • Use modern UX methodologies and techniques to inspire design thinking and create supporting documentation including personas, customer journeys, task flows, site maps, UI specifications & requirements, prototypes/wireframes.
    • Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Business Systems Analysts, and Developers to define and translate business and functional requirements into user-friendly and technically optimal/feasible designs.
    • Design and conduct usability studies to ensure designs are intuitive and easy-to-use.
    • Demonstrate UI/UX best practices in product teams.
    • Stay current with UX, visual design, and front-end technologies.

    Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, Additional Skills, Aptitude

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
    • Design thinking mentality.
    • Experience with lean UX and just in time design cycles.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Familiarity with current front-end web technologies, native interface guidelines, web services, and APIs.
    • Ability to estimate efforts, prioritize tasks and goals, and rapidly produce deliverables in a fast-paced iterative environment.
    • Flexible and able to handle a variety of assignments in various stages at the same time.
    • Creative problem solving - not just solving problems but developing multiple solutions.
    • Acts with empathy and curiosity; listens and seeks to understand.
    • Passionate mindset with positive intent.
    • Collaborative team environment and must be able to work well with others.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor's degree in Design (Graphic, Interaction, Visual, and Digital), Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Architecture, Marketing, or related UX field.
    • 5+ years of UI Design for web, mobile, and application design and/or UX strategy.
    • Strong technical proficiency with design tools such as InVision, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Scrum and Kanban experience a plus.
    • Portfolio of work is required.
