Who You Are:
You are a strategic leader in data analytics and business intelligence (BI) strategy, specializing in data modeling, governance, and architecture. Proficient in Azure data solutions (Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric) and Power BI, you develop automated reporting frameworks to drive decision-making. You have experience integrating advanced analytics, AI/ML technologies, and ERP systems like Sage X3 to streamline workflows. While not a technical expert, you understand data engineering and BI tools and can translate complex concepts for executive leadership. Skilled in data governance, security, and automation using SQL, DAX, or Python, you excel at leading high-performing data teams, fostering collaboration, and aligning data strategies with business goals.
The Task At Hand:
The Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics will lead the organization’s data and analytics strategy, driving data-driven decision-making and fostering a culture of data excellence. The role oversees data management and business intelligence functions to ensure the effective utilization of data assets, with a focus on governance, quality, security, and business intelligence. The leader will develop and implement strategies to leverage data for enhancing business performance, optimizing operations, and identifying new opportunities.
This position requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to build and manage a high-performing, continually improving data organization. It will play a critical role in promoting data literacy across the organization, ensuring all departments can effectively use data for informed decision-making. While the role requires knowledge of data engineering and business intelligence tools, the leader is not expected to be a technical expert but must excel in translating complex technical concepts to executive-level employees.
In This Role, You Will:
Data Strategy and Governance
• Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with organizational goals, focusing on driving innovation, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage.
• Establish and enforce data governance policies to ensure data quality, security, and compliance with regulations such as GDPR and CCPA.
• Manage reliable data pipelines using Azure Data Warehouse, Microsoft SQL, and Microsoft Fabric to integrate data sources efficiently and maintain governance across platforms.
Digital Transformation and Process Automation
• Lead initiatives to automate data processing and reporting, particularly in financial and accounting areas, by designing and deploying self-service reporting frameworks in Power BI.
• Translate complex business requirements into scalable, automated reporting solutions that support business objectives and enable on-demand insights for stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Data Enablement
• Partner with business units such as Finance, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure alignment between data initiatives and business goals.
• Foster a data-driven culture by implementing user-friendly reporting tools that promote self-service and democratize data across the organization.
• Leverage expertise in Sage X3 ERP to streamline data integration and optimize workflows.
Analytics Integration and Advanced Insights
• Lead the deployment of business intelligence solutions, integrating tools like Power BI into business workflows to drive high-impact use cases.
• Continuously monitor and optimize analytics models for performance, scalability, and accuracy.
• Evaluate and implement advanced analytics and ML/AI technologies to enhance organizational capabilities and improve decision-making processes.
Leadership and Organizational Impact
• Build and manage a high-performing data team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Advocate for data literacy and provide training resources to empower employees to make informed, data-driven decisions.
• Champion the adoption of advanced analytics and BI tools to uncover business opportunities and address challenges.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
• Establish metrics to track the success of data initiatives and present insights, trends, and recommendations to senior leadership to inform decision-making and drive organizational goals.
In This Role, You’ll Bring With You:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Mathematics, Data Science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent years of experience, is required.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in data analytics and BI strategy, preferably as a leader in mid-size companies, with a proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in data modeling, metadata management, and data dictionary development is required, along with 2-3 years working with Azure data solutions, including Azure SQL, Microsoft Fabric, and the broader Microsoft Technology Stack.
• Advanced proficiency in Power BI, including semantic modeling, self-service dashboards, and automated reporting workflows, is essential.
• Strong knowledge of data architecture and modeling, with expertise in creating normalized and denormalized data structures for efficient query performance, is required.
• Proficiency in SQL, DAX, and preferably Python or PowerShell, with experience in automating data handling and reporting processes.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Warehousing solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and availability, and strong skills in data integration and ETL processes using Microsoft Fabric, integrating multiple data sources (cloud and on-premises).
• Prior exposure to predictive analytics, AI-driven insights, and their application in guiding business strategy and operations.
• Experience with ERP systems, particularly Sage X3, is preferred to enable deeper integration and streamlined workflows.
• Prior experience with investor communications, including preparing investor presentations and reports, and cross-functional experience in Sustainability, Finance, and Analytics, is an advantage.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Outlook, Slack, and other professional platforms.
• A strong understanding of regulatory compliance standards and data governance, is essential.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights.
• Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, are essential.

• Up to 10% travel required: Although this role is a remote work-from-home position, we “Farmers” do meet as a company and/or as a department a few times a year.

Compensation:
• Full-Time, Salaried, Exempt.
• The anticipated salary range for this position is $170,000.00 to $225,000.00. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a few factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses, stipends, equity, and role-specific perks.
